Scrum Team Training
The Scrum Team training begins by developing a deep understanding of Agile and Scrum with focus on the underlying values and principles from the perspective of the whole team. Understanding the principles that form the foundation of Agile is at least as important as understanding the practices common to each agile framework. The training blends an overview of key principles from Lean and Agile with a deep dive into the four key practices necessary for Agile to work successfully. After an introduction to Scrum, a simulation used to help participants immediately put theory into practice.
Scrum is easily understood but difficult to apply because it requires a change in habits and to think differently about how daily work is completed. Therefore this interactive workshop is structured around the simulation in which the attendees collaborate in teams to build a new product. Learning is achieved through a mix of theoretical topics and hands on experience, all conducted in a safe environment where learning from mistakes is encouraged.
This course covers the core learning objectives to become a great Scrum Team, but also provides opportunity for deeper conversations led by the questions and challenges class participants raise. The key topics covered in the class include:
How Lean thinking and Agility principles connect to Scrum
How those principles are applied to a team context
Learn about the benefits of iterative and incremental for a Scrum Team
Gain a common vocabulary and understanding of the Scrum framework
Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Scrum Master, Product Owner and Development Team
Learn how to make the Scrum Ceremonies more effective: daily scrum (stand-up), sprint planning, review, retrospectives and refinement
Be able to apply the Agile & Scrum principles and practices to build a real product
Work together on an agile team, using the iterative process to rapidly learn and change how the team works
A full simulation and experience of Scrum in action
This class is delivered using techniques from Accelerated Learning and Training for the Back of the Room which maximises the retention of the participants. This training is not a lecture format, where a teacher talks and participants listen, it is a fully immersive and interactive 2-day learning experience.
